May 3 & 4 Natural Step Seminar on Sustainable Business &

May 10 , TNS facilitators Gil Friend and Terry Gips presented a
session on Using Product Lifecycle Assessments to Help Clients Gain a
Competitive Edge at the 2000 Manufacturing Extension Partnership at the
Omni Rosen Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
June 4 , Sustainable Business and Community Seminar,
TNS facilitator Terry Gips presented as part of the Multi-State Working
Group on Environment Management Systems 2000 Conference at the Bahia
Resort Hotel in San Diego.
June 6 , TNS facilitator Terry Gips led an Introduction to
the Natural Step at the the Multi-State Working Group on Environment
Management Systems 2000 Conference at the Bahia Resort Hotel in San
Diego.
June 9, No Time Like the Present: A concert/performance on
nature-connection. Rachel Nelson, accomplished stringband musician and
storyteller, entertains and educates in a show that explores connection
with nature and the new cosmology, and includes a preview of her
environmental interpretive program called "Finding Your
Place." The program is especially appropriate for families, and for
anyone who does environmental education including teachers and artists,
park and nature center interpretive staff and naturalists, and
environmental groups.
June 22, Genetically Modified Organisms in Our Food: Are they safe for us
and the environment? James Riddle, founding president of the Independent
Organic Inspectors Association, has trained hundreds of organic inspectors
worldwide. Dr. Theodore P. Labuza is a Morse Alumni Distinguished Teaching
Professor of Food Science in the Department
of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota.

August 13, TNS facilitator Terry Gips presented a seminar on
the Natural Step and Sustainable Agriculture as part of the Northeast
Organic Farmers Conference at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
September 28, Ken Seguine presented an introduction to the Natural Step at
intelligentnutrients.com on the corner of Lake and Hennepin in Uptown Minneapolis.
An overview of communities, businesses and individuals that are using The Natural
Step to increase profits and live and operate sustainably.
October 4-5, The Greening of Economic Opportunity:
Natural Capitalism and Eco-Industrial Development in Firms, Industries and
Communities at Earle Brown Continuing Education Center at the St. Paul
Campus of the University of Minnesota. Sponsored by Green Institute.
It featured: L. Hunter Lovins, CEO,
Rocky Mountain Institute on "Natural Capitalism", Ed Cohen-Rosenthal,
Cornell University on "Eco-Industrial Development", an interactive forum
on sustainable development and property tax reform, an eco-industrial
development clinic working on selected projects, opportunities for investors in companies using Natural Capitalism
principles, public sector development guidelines that support
eco-industrial projects, healthy community strategies and community
assessments, green development, and whole systems design
October 5-7 The Natural Step US Fifth Annual Conference in
Atlanta, GA. Sustainability: An Exploration of the Social Dimensions
featured presentations from a wide range of experts including Ray
Anderson, Alan Atkisson, Dr. Robert Bullard, Kimberley
Easson, Susan Graff,
Paul Hawken, Dr. Richard Jackson, Mats Lederhausen, Sue Mecklenburg,
Anuradha Mittal, Matthew Quinlan,
Karl-Henrik Robčrt, Vicki Robin, Harsh Saini, Sarah
Severn, Nick Sonntag, Stephen Viederman and Mathis
Wackernagel.
October 16-17 Joe Laur, organizational learning expert, joined
Terry Gips in a special TNS presentation incorporating both of these
visionary new frameworks. The evening was geared toward organizations
striving toward environmental excellence, organizational learning and innovative
leadership.
October 26 Terry Gips gave an introductory presentation on TNS at
the YMCA Environmental Backpacking Program weekly meeting.
November 5 Terry Gips
presented The Natural Step for Business and Community Seminar at
Jung/Brannen Associates in Boston, MA.
November 15-16 TNS facilitator Terry Gips presented The Natural
Step for Business and Community Seminar at Green Institute's
Phillips Eco-Enterprise Center (PEEC). The PEEC is a state-of-the-art
model for sustainable building design emphasizing employee health and
comfort, recycled and reclaimed building materials, and energy
